Here’s an article to read first: Newsom's Controversial Hemp THC Ban Approved, Effective Immediately

So today, our slick governor Gavin Newsom succeeded in his emergency ban of hemp products. The ban was approved by the state OAL and went into effect immediately.

What does this mean?

This means many of us, whose lives are already simply wracked with anxiety and stress, will have more to deal with as we figure out how to get the life-saving hemp for our loved ones.

This means many of us are f*^ed.

This means that Governor Newsom has proved himself to be a narcissist in bed with Big Whomever.

This means there will be a class action lawsuit.

This means Sophie will not be able to get the legal hemp products that she’s used successfully for OVER TEN YEARS that have reduced her seizures by over 95% (after nineteen years of hundreds a day and 22 powerful anti-epileptic drugs).

This means that one man has the authority to impose regulations that threaten the lives of millions. Not just people with epilepsy — 5.4 million people in California are affected by this. Seniors. Pro-athletes. Chronic Pain Sufferers. Veterans. The list goes on.

This means that punitive taxes will be borne by medical patients through the dispensary system.

Some comments by those who know about these things:

He should’ve just prohibited synthetics not plant derived products. That’s where he should have drawn the line. Hemp hustlers doing unregulated API synthesis of compounds not found in hemp was never the intention of the farm bill and will end when cannabis prohibition ends.

We were promised he did not intend to harm our CBD population. Tearful mtgs. You well know. And then his Sept 6th press conference where he DID NOT MENTION OUR 5.4mm CA population that take daily for health and wellness. Why are we collateral damage always for bad players? For money? Because it is absolute efficacious and useful and money-driven.

Did you know that I used to go get Sophie’s medicine in downtown Los Angeles in an alley somewhere in the Arts District? Did you know that we considered moving to Colorado for ease of access and to give it a try but then got off the waitlist in CA and were given our first bottle of Charlotte’s Web? Did you know that within a week of Sophie taking it, she had her first seizure free days in her life? She was nineteen years old. She will be THIRTY years old and has been taking a hemp cocktail for over ten years. The full-spectrum natural products that Sophie takes are not “interchangeable.” We are given a generous compassionate discount from the companies that make it. We will not be able to afford the medicine, even if a dispensary does carry it.

Here’s what I do know.

We will not give up.

We will find a way to get our medicine, just like we did over a decade ago when everyone thought we were nuts.

I also know that I will not ever support Newsom in any of his professional endeavors. I am so sick and tired of these narcissistic men who are elected to powerful positions, who roll around in bed with the business lobbies and who slather themselves with money. Just so sick and tired of all of it.

Sophie and many like her deserve to live their best life. We work tirelessly to ensure that this can happen. To be thrown out as collateral damage is not just infuriating — it’s crushing.
