You can play around with what’s called erasure and create something new. Or not. You can take a page from a children’s version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and with a black Sharpie uncover a poem. Of sorts. It means that words mean something, always. Or not. You can chip away at something hard, sculpt, and let whatever is inside, out. Or whatever’s outside, in.
They will tell you whether they want to be seen. Hope that they leave.

I love this! I've heard of making "spine label poems" from book titles, but never redacting a book in this way to unveil such a pointed, poignant work. I think I can borrow this idea for a future student project. (While not allowing them to mark up our library books! LOL)
