As a swimming addict myself I could relate to every word you wrote about it, even the thoughts that pop up only then and the sublime "high" of afterwards. I hope you can continue with it. And here's a romance movie I just love: "Silver Linings Playbook".

I think you might like the movie Summerland. And it is heartening to know that prescription swim goggles make all the difference. Swimming must be such a wonderful way to empty yourself for a short time.

Happy 14th blogversary! Now I'm wondering if Sophie enjoys watching movies or if it possible for her to have the experience of being in water. Good to know that the CBDV is helping her. It's been years since I've been swimming although swimming was a major part of my life when I was growing up and from around 1985 to sometime in the 1990s, during my 30s and early 40s. I've gone swimming in creeks, rivers, lakes, the ocean, swimming pools, and in my dreams. I wonder if I will take up swimming again. What you wrote reminds me of how much I loved swimming. I know a woman who swims daily in the warmer months here in the 14-mile lake that is a short walking distance of where I live.

Cinema Paradiso and Les Enfants du Paradis and Ghost come to mind. And then there's Shrek (-:

Your lovely morning routine will replenish your exhausted heart, bit by bit, and I'm also glad the new regimen seems to be working well for Sophie. May it continue. I, too, found North and South (the BBC series, not the American one) to be an epic and romantic love story. That Richard Armitage sure is dreamy in it. And the final scene. Oh my.

Dr Z. Of course.

For reading: Kristen Lavransdatter. Gloriously epic.

I am drawing a blank on epic love stories. I really liked The African Queen when I was a kid, though it's not really epic. Great acting, though. And I'll pile on affection for Doctor Zhivago. The BBC series North & South is beautiful, too. And Wives & Daughters. Both of those based on books by Elizabeth Gaskell, which I also love.

Dearest E-swimming!!! So much my jam. I’m anticipating nude swimming when I go to Manton next week. Pride and Prejudice (2005) gorgeous film, Kiera Knightley and the incomparable Dame Judy Dench. Also 2 queer teen series (hear me out) Young Royals from Sweden and Heartstoppers from the UK. Both engaging and lovely and optioned for further seasons. Ocean Vuong’s new poetry book.

Thought about you and Soph this morning-no reason just love in my heart for you and yr wondrous girl. X B

MOVIES: Truly, Madly, Deeply. Wings of Desire (my #1 film of all times) and the weirdly wonderful, Benjamin Button. Also reading The Hurting Kind!! And I get to work with her soon at Community of Writers in California which I am both terrified of and psyched to do. I used to swim 3 times a week before child, and do yoga a few times a week, and more. I don't swim any more. Walking is my daily routine. Yoga is very intermittent but was more frequent early in the lockdown. then I tore something in my shoulder and well, it's been a downhill slide with a lot of moguls to bump over to try and keep upright, flexible and moving. Slipping into older age.

I'm glad you're swimming, or swam once. I love swimming, even though I rarely swim anymore. I love the lightness I feel in the water, all the sounds are muffled and I can't really see much. I'm away from the world and that's a good thing.

I'm glad the CBDV is helping Sophie.

I just read two books about Korea, "Pachinko" and "The Island Of Sea Women", both heartbreaking. The Korean people have suffered a great deal and sadly I had no idea.

An epic love story? I've always liked "Moonstruck", "Elizabethtown", "Once", and "Shakespeare In Love". Not highbrow, I know:)

Swimming. I should be. I've never been a lap swimmer. Enjoy it, sweet lady! Your mornings sound divine and I'm so glad that the new CBD compound seems to be helping Sophie. There is so much more to learn about how this all works, isn't there? Thank goodness for your smart and brave doctor.

The only love story movie I can think of at this second is Zeffirelli's "Romeo and Juliet". Such a beautiful movie. Of course, the ending is a bit, well, tragic. Sorry for the spoiler.

Carolyn stole my suggestion! LOL! "Out of Africa" and "Dr. Zhivago" are two of my favorite movies.

I like your descriptions of swimming and I'm glad you've found some ways to navigate the insanity of the modern world. I'm also glad Sophie's seizures seem more under control. Happy fourteenth blogaversary!

Out of Africa. Just hearing the first strains of the theme wrenches my heart.

I feel the same way about swimming, especially in a lake or ocean but a pool is perfect too. Water is healing. I throw my vote in with Truly, Madly, Deeply (for the love and ghost story, not the epic quality it lacks), and there is always Titanic if you want love and water and great proportions.

I wouldn’t call these films epic love stories, but a bit out of the ordinary and they are “Bagdad Cafe”., and “The Lovers”. Definitely unusual love stories.
