at this point i don't know what is more terrifying: to get a positive test result or to keep coasting along in a seemingly safe little bubble....waiting. i am sorry you had to go through the peak in anxiety but OTOH i am very glad that you all came out the other side apparently unscathed. also: love the sound of your creative immersion. your talent for self-preservation is always stunning. and your yule log!

"Feliz Covidad." That's great. I agree with Elisabeth in that I think eventually we'll all have had covid. May we all be lucky and get it in the mildest possible form. Your Buche de Noel is about as beautiful as anything I've seen in a very long time. Well, except for your children.

I love knowing what you've been up to, where, with whom--whatever you want to share, I'm there. I checked out Suzi Banks Baum and am now on her mailing list. Thanks for sharing that experience--and the photos. Little envelopes? Little cards? Makes my hands itch for paper! Love to you and your family, dear Elizabeth.

Only you could write of this with a perfect combination of wry humor, gratitude, and self-compassion. I’ll try to keep your persoective in mind for what I’m sure will be our inevitable positives sometime soon 💗 (Also now I can’t stop replacing the lyrics to the Navidad song; “Covid” fits right in.)

What a lovely post. Hope the boys stay asymptomatic and that you and Sophie stay negative. Weird days, weeks, and months. That bûche is a thing of beauty. Happy 2022.

It HAS been a couple of weird years. I hope the boys are doing okay. We almost canceled our small family gathering to a direct Covid exposure, but all tested negative. The day after xmas, another exposure, so we are awaiting test results AGAIN. I love your creative creations. It's good to have an outlet, yes? Sending love and luck for 2022.

It is a joy to see mermaid Sophie illuminated by the winter sun at the ocean. The expressions on your son's faces are reminiscent of young men from other generations who have been in a war and become grown men. There has been war in one form or another throughout their lives and now the pandemic. Good to see the many fruits of your creative energy. Sending love to you and your beloveds.

That course sounds interesting. Sorry to hear about the 'vid. Still negative here but sick for most of December. WTF!

Your sons must have just loved spending a week with each other in a small room. It's probably something that they'll look back on with fondness when they're older men, but maybe not now.

And those things hanging are vaginas and labias. My vagina doesn't measure up to those. It's shrinking and every so often a puff of dust comes out of it:)

I'm glad you're all well, despite the 'vid. Fuck this year sucked.

I love this report, the clear-sighted stance, the in-spite-of-everything-ness of it, the recognition of grace abounding, those boys, that girl, your stellar humans. Thank you.
