I feel like the trees around me have been my saving grace. Especially the oaks, some of them hundreds of years old. The life they contain within them and within their branches are as close to holy as anything I can possibly imagine.
Your words are as healing as that tree. We need your words, humble as you believe they are, as much as those gardens. As much as that ancient spring water. All these things are the antidote to the mean stupid strutting of little men with egos and bombs. Your words restore my breath, remind me that what matters will endure. Thank you for finding words for this.
Not exaggerating here when I tell you that reading this description of Kuruvunga relaxed my entire nervous system. Trees and flowing water . . . the real wealth.
I am also disheartened lately in this horrible political arena. I hope you and Sofie are well. My not so little warrior and I have been in the hospital a few times now and have to get a surgery consult for a G tube. She has lost 70lbs (fintepla/onfi/ stirapentol) but she has been golden since last June. I think about you often though I don't communicate much. Just wanted to say hi and I'm greatful for your tiny mother mind. Lyla & Sarah
The natural world will heal us much better than anything else, I think. I know it works for me. I had no idea there were such beautiful places in LA, (I know my ignorance is astounding).

They are saving. They are grace.

Like you, I go to trees.
I put my arms around their trunks and lean, my whole self, cheek, chest, belly, thighs, and listen. Breathing with you, Elizabeth.
This is one of my favorite posts of yours. Nature heals us. It gives us hope when in despair.
Thank you for this.
Someday soon I want to drive down and walk in the trees with you and catch up. Love you.
Beautiful piece. The springs! The Montezuma cypress!! Yes
