To walk your footsteps one must earn their superhero status. My heart hurts for you. A burden wrapped within a blessing. I cannot fathom the darkness, yet I am grateful you write it for others to view. We cannot connect, but we are torn from our worlds to witness what we cannot know. Bless you and Sophie. You do not walk alone.

Another piece of perfect writing, your conveying the fire, the weight, the smoke, the hope, the exhaustion, the endless determination and persistence of a mythological figure, made real with blood and flesh and your amazing intelligence, your endless love.

Dragon mother indeed, Elizabeth. Long may the fire and smoke gush from your nostrils but oh so sad that it is in the hope that someone somewhere can help your beloved 'sweetpea' Sophie in her life. To ease the burden if only a little.

Such a heavy load.

This is an astounding piece of writing. I could feel that tail, even after all this time.

I wish, I wish you could let real fire gush out from our nostrils and mouths. They are used to see us cry, they are immune to our sadness, immune to our angry incredulity, immune to our helplesness and despair, and as for questions? Not a concept.

There’s an old Chicago blues musician named Taildragger— the owner of a hard life. We all drag those hard lives behind us. It’s good, I think, to keep breathing out fire. Xo

It never ends, does it? The searching, the hoping, the too muchness of it all. It grinds you down until you become a dragon:)

Dearest Elizabeth-Kuan Yin riding the dragon, she who conquers compassion, strength, divine powers and courage. You, dear Elizabeth, are that woman, that animal.

I am angry at that doctor who blithely declined to do any tests. She is lucky you held your breath of fire and the whip of your dragon tail. I feel here how tired you are. And how you keep on for Sophie. Holding you in love.

Reading this I was weirdly reminded of the sorrowful Puff, his green scales falling like rain. It's got to be exhausting being a dragon. But you will always breathe fire when needed, I have no doubt of that!

Dragon Mother 🔥 and I second the comment above about Guan Yin - on a dragon with her thousand arms bringing compassion to the suffering world!
