Sending you lots of "eye-rolling" good vibes for tomorrow and subsequent days. So scary and so good that you were able to get in to see someone rather quickly. All veils fall away when we realize how truly vulnerable we are and so much is out of our control. Here's to the pirate in you.
There may not be clarity in that eye yet, but every bit of your writing clearly shines through. How frightening! My husband had a retina suddenly detach, hope your surgery goes as smoothly as his did.
You render the experience so vividly, my God, how terrifying this must have been, must be, and now I am in wonder that we go along moment to moment oblivious to what can happen. I am thinking of you so hard, praying that all will be back to normal soon, and I'm so very glad that Carl was with you, that you weren't alone in this moment. I send love.
That had to have been scary, to have such a thing occur when you feel normal and were out for what you expected to be an uneventful day. You just never know, right? Life is so weird. Hopefully this will all get sorted out without too much discomfort.
That must have been terrifying to see all of the shapes and strangeness in your eye. I hope your surgery goes smoothly and you have excellent results. I have a macular hole in my eye. My other eye had done such an excellent job of taking over seeing that I don't know exactly when it developed. I had a large brown cataract on that eye, too, so it had to be removed before the macular hole can be repaired. I am worrying about the recovery time when I will have to keep my eyes looking downward for (I don't know how long yet) because due to neck problems I can't keep my neck bent and my whole head facing downward. I am like you learning a whole lot of new words (to me) dealing with with eyes and vision. I have never even heard of anyone having a macular hole before.
Take care. May everything with your surgery go perfectly.
My grandmother had macular degeneration -- she lived to be 92 and while she could only see shapes and silhouettes, she lived fairly independently and listened to a lot of books on tape and classical music. Stay well!
The terror must have been profound. Such an event completely out of the blue, no warning, no immediate explanation- oh, honey. I hope that when they go to do surgery tomorrow that there will already be great healing. I will be thinking of you, I will be holding your hand. I hope you will be able to feel that.

What a beautiful thing to say, Suzanne. Thank you. "All veils fall away" indeed.

This is horrible to read and my heart goes out to you and the strength you show under the circumstances.
Thanks Sabine. I don't feel particularly strong right now, but I'm trying!

I hear your sweet voice in my head, Mary. Thank you!
Terrifying. I'm thankful they're able to repair your eye. Sending hugs and love.
