I thought ya’ll needed a little Sophabellie. She’s doing so well these days, and I’m grateful for that. That’s her old wheelchair, but she just got a new, motorized wheelchair. I’m waiting for the ramps to arrive that’ll go at the door, so we really haven’t used it yet. To tell you the truth, I’m scared of it and know that the Two Marias are, as well. I can only speak for myself, but my learning curve is very, very long. Old habits die hard. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Reader, please join in with some cliches. I will keep you posted.
And yet while running to the hills with poetry you'd still be thinking about all the problems and gratitude and meditation, because poetry engages with all of that, it seems to me. Sophie is looking great!
A poetic portrait of beautiful Sophie in a beautiful book lined room. The sameness of days can feel crushing to me lately, but going out and coming home can at least make home feel like an oasis. May you run to the hills with all the poetry you can hold, soon.
How's this- "You can teach an old dog new tricks but it will require a great deal of frustration, treats, and naps." At least in my own personal experience. Sophie is a beauty. Your floors are so clean.
Sophie is gorgeous. Philip Larkin was a sad man (read about his racist views and how he treated the women in his life) but a man of beautiful, sad poetry.
a beautiful portrait of Sophie. You are pondering the unknowable but I do understand, as I do as well. Especially with the gradual death of my mother. "What's it all about, Alfie?"
Dear Elizabeth-sitting here in the naturopaths office waiting for supplements and tinctures and a laying on of hands. Why do I feel the need to entertain these young docs? Who knows. So grateful for Sophia to have a motorized chair. I have a back up camera in my new car that confuses and scares me. You can do it..we can still learn. XXXX

I think running to hills with poetry is your meditation, your gratitude and your medicine. You already have what you need.
And Sophie, beautiful and mysterious as always.

Well, wow.
Do you have "a feeling" or some sense when you've just written something that'll stop someone in their tracks? Cuz this did that.
I really appreciate being struck in this way and I'm very glad I read this post and saw this picture.
❤
Yet, yet, yet.

I love seeing your Sophie sitting up, looking so cared for, put together. Is that her questioning expression? And yes-- those gleaming floors.
So much all of this.
