You can't fix Stupidity and there sure is a lot of that going around. I am often at a loss for Words too at some of what people say out loud. Glad you all enjoyed a nice day at the Beach tho', I must be longing for some Beach Time since I recently bought some Beachy objects during some Retail Therapy... AZ has miles of Beach, just no Ocean to go with it.
I hate it that I both wasn't expecting this story to end that way and also then immediately thought why didn't I expect it? I am also struck dumb, again by hatefulness.
What on earth was that guard thinking?! People astonish me with the things they will say. But having said that, I haven't heard "dumb" slotted into the category of now-forbidden words. Admittedly I am not entirely on top of the latest trends.
So much to comment on. Wow. I'm weary of people jumping on every "misuse" of a word that they *perceive.*. Thin-skinned we used to call them. Can we call them that now or is that a slam to people with honest to gawd thin skin? As to that *guard* do you suppose he's been in a dark room for most of his life and so is ignorant of the world in general and sweet young girls in a wheelchair in particular? He was opposite of dumb (as in silent) as he graced you with his insight. Dumb.
All that aside, how nice to get to the beach and wonderful that there is an accessible walkway. My love to you all.
Sophie. Such a beauty. People are ignorant. Plain old ignorant and based on their ignorance, create worlds and opinions and opinions of those worlds that they are comfortable believing. That is just how it is, I think. There is nothing we can do to change this because once someone has entered that ignorance world and turned the key behind them and closed all the windows and drawn the blinds, that is where they will stay. I'm so sorry that this man was so stuck in his ignorance that he could not see the reality of what was before him.

Like Frimet below, I too find this picture of Sophie particularly wonderful, radiating dignity and elegance as she does. And she's got a look that "says" (I surmise) what, who do you THINK is behind these Foster Grants (and yes, I know, they don't really look like FGs, but I'm painting a picture here!). Haughty in the most wonderful way - Elegance and class personified. As for language; it boggles the mind how it is weaponized and bastardized so it is rendered... and me... well, DUMB.
By the way, I was thrilled to see the carpet. We have it at the beach in my town - and it too does not go quite far enough when the tide is low enough to allow folks to walk down to the water's edge.
By the way... is Carl still taking pictures and being Birdman?
As for the fish place... I just can't get over the folks needing such person at the door. Then again, who knows what troubles they've seen at their little "joint." Or what the man gets in return for sitting in the chair wielding his "stick."
Be well. I hope the heat causes you (or your loved ones) not to be "overdone!"

I love that picture of Sophie. She looks radiant.

Dumbness has gone viral. That’s such a lovely photo of beautiful Sophie!

When Katie was diagnosed, a woman at my mom's group said, "She's not mongoloid!"
I am surprised that you don't speak Spanish. Do you speak any spanish?
My husband would say, you can't fix stupid. As for Sophie, she is enigmatic as always.
It's so nerve wracking, the rampant dumbness.
I love this photo of Sophie - she radiates dignity and elegance. How did that security guard miss it??
