The truth is never boring. Infuriating, yes, and an important reminder for us all to take care in the true sense of the word when we vote.

I am with you Elizabeth. The Affordable Care Act has been a godsend for me too. The reasoning used by Vance and other idiots against the ACA is woefully flawed. People of any age can have health issues. Additionally, the spreading out of risk and knowing that some people will need to use more services than others is the whole point of group insurance.

It has become blindingly obvious to me that Republicans are simply cruel. They have no regard for the people they are supposedly serving. No regard at all.

How infuriating. What have we come to when people see group insurance coverage as some kind of anti-individualist, left-wing construction?

Health care should never be for profit, ever. Everyone paying something means that when somebody needs health care, it's there for them, regardless of income. All of us will need health care at some point in our lives and it makes sense for everyone to help each other when it comes to costs. A very Canadian perspective I know but we are stronger when we work together to care for each other. None of us are islands.

God bless Nancy Pelosi! She made it happen. I was widowed just after the ACA was passed and you can imagine how grateful I was to have affordable insurance. My daughter, Evie, has a good life largely because of Medicare and Medicaid. How easily it could disappear if Vance and Trump so decide. Has anyone ever seen a person with evident special needs at a Trump rally? A wheelchair? Therapy dog? Neck brace?

Yes! Nancy Pelosi worked very closely with Little Lobbyists, an amazing organization that many of my friends work in and were instrumental in all of that as it pertained to the disabled community. Any you are absolutely right about seeing anyone at one of the Trump rallies who appears disabled. Does Trump with his ear bandaid count?

Dearest E-

There is no end to human greed and cruelty. We must remember our sphere of influence (our endless kindness) is a force for compassion in the world. All of us caring for one another...Republican fuckery cannot stop us, no matter what they do.. Their hearts have turned to stone. Or ice.

And Vance certainly didn't mention this https://www.texasobserver.org/undocumented-immigrants-subsidize-healthcare/

I remember exactly these arguments when the ACA was being discussed, as I'm sure you do. And how maddening it was at the time and still is that health care has *anything* to do with one's employment. Insane. INSANE. And your writing is never boring.

A good majority of the people that will vote for them are the ones that will be most hurt by their policies...we have seen this before.
